Smurfette is a beauty icon like no other. She is a cartoon! Too Faced cosmetics is releasing a Spring collection devoted to Smurfette.
Cartoons in cosmetics are popular in 2009; MAC Cosmetics is launching a makeup line devoted to Hello Kitty, and Too Faced is following suit with their own collection dedicated to Smurfette. Smurfette, the blonde cartoon beauty with blue skin was the only female Smurf in the cartoon line. The release of the Smurfette makeup collection by Too Faced comes about ten months prior to the Smurfs' 50th anniversary. Too Faced So Smurfy Eye Shadow CollectionPerhaps one of the most prominent pieces in the Too Faced Smurf makeup collection is the So Smurfy Eye Shadow collection. Complete with a Smurf-decorated mirrored compact, this quad of eyeshadow colors features two shimmery shadows and two colors that are meant for spring. The two shimmer colors, a champagne and a light taupe should be used on the highlight of the brow bone and the lower lid, respectively. The vibrant Smurfette Pink color makes a fun accent when applied with a light hand, but looks overly clownish as anything but a touch of color. A Smurf makeup collection wouldn't be complete without a touch of blue, and the blue in the So Smurfy eye shadow collection is a throwback to the days when the Smurfs were in their peak: the 1980s. This blue is almost unwearable, but when used in combination with the lighter champagne and taupe shadows, it mixes to a nice pastel shade of eyeshadow that is perfect for spring and summer. Too Faced So Smurfy Illumination Face PowderIn another mirrored compact sits the Too Faced So Smurfy Illumination Powder. Like many multi-toned illumination powders, the Smurfette powder features a touch of shine with subtle color correction and natural tones. The So Smurfy Illumination Powder works best with a large powder brush, so the shine is not too intense. Similarly, it is best used on the shoulders, and on the highlight of the cheeks. Too Faced Mood Swing Emotionally Activated Lip GlossOne of the most wearable pieces in the Too Faced Smurf makeup collection is the Mood Swing Emotionally Activated Lip Gloss. This lip gloss comes in a Smurf-decorated tube and starts out on the lips as a Smurf-blue color. Depending on the body heat of the wearer, the lip gloss changes from blue to a beautiful berry hue, suitable for almost any skin tone. Too Faced Smurf-Eyed Liquid EyelinerThe spirit of the Too Faced Smurf makeup collection is supposed to be fun, and the Smurf-Eyed Liquid eyeliner embodies that spirit. Color choices in the eyeliner are a glittery silver, Feelin Smurfy, or a true Smurf blue, Smurf You. Though this product is designed to used as eyeliner, it takes several applications to get it to appear along the lash line. It would be best used with an angle brush. The Too Faced Smurf makeup collection is meant to bring a little fun and excitement into cosmetics, and it has. As long as the expectations do not exceed the spirit in which the Too Faced collection was created, it is a fun addition to any cosmetics bag. A great gift for those who grew up watching Smurfette in their morning cartoons, the Too Faced Smurf makeup collection is available only at Sephora. The prices start at $17.50 and run to $32.50. This is a limited edition collection that is only available while supplies last.
