Makeup trends for fall 2008 boast a wealth of golds and jewel tones. The Chanel Colour Collection for Fall 2008 delivers those jewel tones in sultry, wearable shades.

Chanel's makeup collection for fall 2008, the first collection premiered by the new global creative director Peter Philips, gradually merges the softness of late summer with beautiful, rich colors for fall. The result is a wearable palette of browns and golds, with the occasional accent of jewel-toned blues and berries.

Chanel Eye Makeup for Fall 2008

Introduced for the fall 2008 season is Reflets d'Ombre, a new quad of eyeshadows featuring ivory, coffee, gold, and dark green shades that work for almost every age. Any of the eyeshadows pair exceptionally well with Chanel's Denim or Teak precision eye definers. Two single shades of Chanel Soft Touch Eyeshadow, Le Bronze and Bois Blue round out the fall 2008 eye makeup color collection.

Consider pairing the ivory, gold and coffee together for an office-appropriate, but fashion forward look. Then, add a touch of Bois Blue or Le Bronze to flawlessly transition the look from day-to-evening.

Chanel Lip Makeup for Fall 2008

Chanel has spent a lot of time expanding the options available for the lips this season. For those who prefer a sheer lip color, two new shades are offered in the Aqualumiere line: Formentera and Papette. Formentera leaves a soft rose with a touch of neutral beige on the lip, while Papette satisfies those who prefer to let the color pop, with a subtle wash of cranberry. Both forumlations include an SPF of 15, which aids in keeping the lips hydrated even when exposed to the dry air of fall and winter.

Rouge Hydrabase and Rouge Allure add five more colors to the Chanel lipstick collection for fall. Rouge Hydrabase offers three luxurious colors in Soft Pink, Fantastic Plum, and Great Copper in their signature cream lipstick texture. Rouge Allure brings two shades for fall 2008, including Crazes, a neutral pink tone, as well as the limited edition Enthusiast, a vibrant coral red.

Three lipglosses top off the Chanel Lip collection and compliment any of the lipstick choices by offering high shine and a touch of shimmer: Amberlight, a soft bronze, Delight, a subtle lilac, and Gold Light, a shimmering gold that will be the smash hit of the holiday season.

Summary of the Chanel Fall Color Collection for 2008

Viewing the collection, it's easy to see that the focus for 2008 fall makeup is all about color on the eyes and lips. Chanel has added only one soft pressed powder in Almond, which helps to reflect light without excessive shimmer, and just one new blush, Rost Dust, which is designed to look as though the wearer is blushing from within.

Choose to highlight the eyes or the lips, but not both to stay within the boundaries of fall 2008 makeup trends. The Chanel 2008 fall makeup collection can be purchased in any major department store or directly via their website. Expect to pay between $26 and $65 for the pieces in Chanel's most recent collection.
