Lipstick and lip gloss wear off easily. Using a lip stain will help keep color on lips longer. Purchase a lip stain or make your own with Homemade Lips Stain recipes.

Lip stain is a cosmetic that will color the lips for a longer period of time than the use of regular lip products like lipstick and lip gloss. The point for a lip stain is to keep the look natural but still help the lips stand out more than normal. Lip stains will help keep the appearance of color on the lips even though other lip products have worn off.

Many lip stains are available through several cosmetic companies. Some can be high end with a lot of notoriety in the cosmetic field, while many others still work well but will not break the bank.

Benefit Cosmetics Benetint

Benefit’s Benetint is a waterproof and kiss-proof product that will go on sheer and natural. This lip stain can also be used as a cheek stain as well. Although the price, around $30 a bottle, might not be in everyone’s price range; Benetint is a cosmetic favorite among many women and makeup artists.

Cover Girl Outlast Lip Stain

For a more budget friendly lip stain, try Cover Girl Outlast. This lip stain will last for hours with a variety of colors available. Cover Girl Outlast wins in the packaging department. The Outlast Lip Stain looks more like a marker than a cosmetic product. The easy to apply felt-tip marker will stain the top layer of the lips giving a lightweight, natural color.

Homemade Lip stain

Lip stains can easily be made at home as well. There are two easy ways (plus inexpensive!) to create a homemade lip stain; one with a household food product and the other with current cosmetics.

  • Jell-O Lip Stain: Use a cherry, strawberry or any red color gelatin to create a lip stain product. Simply empty the contents in a small container (make sure it has a lid). Next, wet a lip brush or cotton swab with a little bit of water. Dip the applicator in the Jell-O and apply lightly to the lips. Make sure to get the Jell-O just on the lips and not on the skin around the lips. Apply another layer if more is needed. Top with lip balm or lip gloss for a more glamorous look. Easy red lip stain for less than a dollar!
  • Lipstick Stain: Apply a bright color lipstick, reds and bright pinks work best, to the lips. Wait ten --minutes for the lipstick to set. Then blot away the color with tissues or blotting papers. This technique may leave lips dry, apply a lip balm or lip gloss to help improve the texture.

Lip stains are a great cosmetic product if lip color wears off unevenly and easily. Lip stains are also great for summer months and while on vacations when one does not want to be bothered with reapplying makeup.
