Three fall 2008 looks by Lancôme - Maharani Jewels, Secrets of Benghal, and Lotus Splendor - focus on warm bronzes, sultry eyes, and vibrant lip colors.
Most cosmetics companies debut their bronze collections before the start of each summer. Lancôme, however, has drawn inspiration from the jewel tones, plums, golds, and bronzes of India and created a fall collection rich with color and texture, following the makeup trends for fall 2008. The Lancôme "Maharani Jewels" Collection and Look For Fall 2008The signature look for fall 2008 from Lancôme is the Maharani Jewels collection. From this overall collection, Lancôme has developed three hot looks for fall. Featuring a brand new quad of eyeshadows, Lotus Splendor, and India Ink, a deep black kohl eyeliner pencil, this look is centered around making the eyes pop. Lancôme recommends using the beige tone along the brow bone, the rose shadow over the lid, and the dark brown shade along the lash line to intensify the effect of the deep black liner. Finish the look with two coats of mascara. Lancôme has released three essential lip pieces for Maharani Jewels. Star of India, a rich mauve, is made in their Color Fever formula. Color Fever is a creamy lipstick texture with light-maximizing shine. This makes it an ideal formula for those who like a lot of shine with their lipstick, or for mature lips, which tend to show more signs aof aging. Star of India lipstick is also paired with a lip liner of the same name, and can be topped off with the limited edition Autumn Jasmine Juicy Tube lipgloss to complete the look. The Lancome "Secrets of Benghal" Look For Fall 2008This look is centered around the second quad of eyeshadows released by Lancôme for fall 2008. Unlike Lotus Splendor, which is a collection of neutral browns and beiges, the Secrets of Benghal quad is all about plums, making it ideal for those with fair skin or green eyes, in addition to being wearable by virtually every other skin tone. To accomplish this look, Lancôme recommends applying the soft pink shade from the lash line to the brow line, covering the entire lid. The medium mauve shade should be concentrated on the outer corner of the lower lid, and then blended into the crease, or fold, of the eye. Smudge the deep eggplant shade along the lash line for a more dramatic look. The lip product for this look are also soft and neutral, like many of the lipsticks for fall 2008. To complete this look, apply two coats of the newly-released Jaipur Spice Color Fever Lipstick over Bronzelle lip liner, and top it off with the limited edition Ginger Spicy Juicy Tube for high shine and to seal the lip color. The Lancôme "Lotus Splendor" Look For Fall 2008Lotus Splendor, a look suitable for all skin tones, but especially appealing on darker skin, uses the same quad of copper, peach, and brown eyeshadows used in the Maharani Jewels collection, but uses the colors in a different way. The look starts off by sweeping the peach tone eyeshadow from the lashline to just under the eyebrown. Then, the copper shadow is applied on the outer edge of the lower lid, and blended into the crease. The deepest brown shade is used to smudge liner along the lashes, creating an instant smokey look. Finish off the eyes by using the lightest shade under the arch of the eyebrow, and add two coats of mascara. Color Fever Lipstick in Brickhouse, a rich warm-toned red, over Star of India lip liner, is a strong lip choice to accent the softer looking eye makeup in Lotus Splendor. Take the lips from day to night by adding a coat of Juicy Tube Lipgloss in Maharani Jewels. To complete the these three looks, Lancome also released Poudre Elephant Teint, a bronzer powder featuring a melange of glowing colors. Embossed with an elephant in the center, this lighter shade of bronzer provides only a touch of color, making it ideal for fall and winter use.
