Huge Lips Skinny Hips Product ReviewHoodia Lip Gloss Boasts It Can Plump Lips and Aid Weight Loss
The new weight loss lip gloss Huge Lips Skinny Hips claims to plump lips while aiding weight loss with hoodia gordonii, a natural appetite suppressant. But does it work?
The newest weight loss product with hoodia isn't a pill or a supplement – it's a new lip gloss called Huge Lips Skinny Hips. Said to plump lips even as it suppresses your appetite, the lip gloss sells for around $20 or £18 in designer hues with extravagant weight loss goals. Can a weight loss lip gloss possibly work? Hoodia and Weight Loss SupplementsThe most marketable ingredient in Huge Lips Skinny Hips is Hoodia gordonii – a cactus found in South Africa and Namibia. Hoodia is said to act as an appetite suppressant, and was traditionally used by native tribesmen in South African to suppress hunger on long hunts in the Kalahari Desert. Hoodia has been marketed as an appetite suppressant and is widely popular in health food and supplement stores as well as in weight loss programs. Hoodia makes up 10% of the content of the Huge Lips Skinny Hips lip gloss formula. Huge Lips Skinny Hips creator Karen Robinovitz says on her website, "The lip surface is very thin. It is easy to 'digest' ingredients, much like the skin when you apply cream." Nevertheless, there is no evidence that absorbing hoodia through the skin (or the lips) helps with weight loss. In fact, there is very little evidence and no published scientific data to support claims that hoodia works to suppress the appetite at all. Huge Lips Plumps with Vitamin B3In addition to hoodia, Huge Lips Skinny Hips contains lip plumpers – specifically, vitamin B3, which increases blood flow to the lips and creates "that oh-so-sultry photo-ready pout." Other natual ingredients, like lemon peel oil and meadowfoam, are said to counteract the inevitable sting of the vitamin B3 plumper - and product testers have no complaints with the way the lip gloss looks or feels. Weight Loss Lip Gloss – Truth or Glam Scam? There has been a lot of critical response to the idea of a weight loss lip gloss, but the creator of Huge Lips Skinny Hips, writer Karen Robinovitz, holds firm to the product and its effectiveness. "Did you know that it has been reported that women ingest up to 9 pounds of lipstick in a lifetime?" Robinovitz asks on the product website. " – so why not ingest something like this?" Yet it's doubtful the amount of hoodia consumed from licking your lips would have much of an effect of appetite. In response to criticism on another website, Robinovitz writes, "This gloss is not meant to be a diet substitute. It is a chic, glam, fun product… And yes, there is hoodia, infused in the formula. When I use it, it allows me to set my intentions (very much like The Secret) and keep me consciously aware of what I am eating. Appetite is all state of mind - at least when it comes to over eating. So this gloss is just my little fun secret weapon to keep me mindful at a dinner party!" Weight loss goals and "conscious awareness" aside, Huge Lips Skinny Hips offers a range of chic, luscious colors and a nice gloss – if a little pricey. Sources
