Your makeup application may look perfect when you leave the house in the morning. However, by midday it may be light or faded. Frequent touch ups throughout the day may be ineffective if you do not have the right foundation. Here are three tips to help your make up last longer and look freshly applied all day.

Routine

Before you apply your foundation it is a good idea to rethink your current routine. Your makeup routine may have been in place for years. This is a great time to rethink some of your core products. Start with clean skin. Moisturize your skin with your current moisturizing product. Apply your concealer to all blemishes and dark areas. If you are using your fingers for your concealer with marginal results, invest in a brush specifically for concealer.

Make up Primer

Many makeup primers are not the color of your skin tone. They may go on clear or in a tone that does not match your skin. Apply a foundation primer all over your face, and to the eye area. Do not worry if you can see it when you first apply the product.

Application

Continue with your normal makeup routine. Add your foundation, powder, eye shadow, blush, and lipsticks. Test the results you are seeing midday and at the end of your workday. Your foundation should still be intact. If your eye makeup is not as pronounced as you would like, apply more foundation primer, or an eye makeup primer made specifically for the eye area.

Savings

Low-cost primers such as Rimmel are about $7 per tube. If you use inexpensive or expensive foundations you will not have to apply as much. This product will allow your foundation and powders to last longer. Your touch ups throughout the day will not require a full face application. An easy way to improve your make up application skills; is to watch videos on YouTube. Search for make up tutorials. Practice your new skills often to improve your technique.

Building your makeup routine around primers is a great way to ensure that your make up lasts all day long. Invest in quality make up brushes to help blend your makeup properly. When a product does not work well for you, think about how you can change it. Use these tips to help you stretch your beauty budget, and look beautiful all day long.
