Uruku Cheek-Lip Creme is a natural looking Aveda makeup product that provides cosmetic convenience in four varied skin-friendly shades, ideal for almost any skin type.

Aveda is a company long known for its professional hair care, with wonderful aromas, plant-based ingredients, and earth friendly packaging. But what people forget is that Aveda, a subsidiary of Estee Lauder, offers many of those same attributes in its makeup line.

With the launching of Uruku Cheek-Lip Creme, Aveda gave people everywhere a product they have been longing for – a natural looking, portable color that works for cheeks and lips, that provides a subtle glow.

This product is free of synthetic dyes and non-acnegenic, which makes it ideal for sensitive skins and those who experience breakouts on a regular basis. It's silky cream formula also works for dry, or dehydrated skin, and those with more mature skin, will find that it glides over the cheeks and lips without settling into fine lines or wrinkles. While the Uruku Cheek-Lip Creme works for many skin types, from dry to normal or combination, it is not recommended for people who have an oilier skin type. There is simply not enough pigment or staying power for oily skin.

Aveda's Uruku Cheek-Lip Color is available in four colors, Solara, Roselle, Guava, and Canna:

  • Solara: A subtle neutral bronze shade, ideal for fair to medium skin types who prefer to keep a sun-kissed glow year round.
  • Roselle: A soft, innocent pink perfect for fair skin or those who like the look of just coming inside from the cold. Roselle is a natural, blushing bride pink.
  • Guava: Ideal for medium skin tones to dark skin tones, Guava is a deeper berry shade that adds a touch of exotic glamour to evening looks.
  • Canna: Suitable for all skin tones, this pearlescent, natural pink makes skin look like it is blushing from the inside out.

Regardless of the shade chosen, all of the Uruku Cheek-Lip Creme products are made without synthetic dyes, and have the surprisingly pleasant aroma of certified organic cinnamon, anise, peppermint, and basil. They are packaged in a 100% post-consumer recycled clamshell.

To apply the Cheek-Lip Creme to the cheeks, use a damp sponge, a foundation brush, or fingertips. Keeping in mind that more color can always be added, start with a small, dime-sized amount for both cheeks. For lips, the color should be applied with a lip brush for the most precise application, or use a finger if on-the-go.

Overall, the Aveda Uruku Cheek-Lip Creme is a wonderful two-in-one product for people who prefer a quick and easy makeup routine with little fuss and few products. Because Aveda products use botanical extracts for aroma and flavor, those with particular plant allergies should check the ingredients before use. However, the quality of the extracts make this product safe for most skin types, including sensitive skin.

While this product provides a natural looking glow and highlight to the skin, as well as a bit of hydration for cheeks and lips, it is not ideal for oily skin types, and it is far too subtle for those who like their color to show. While the product is somewhat buildable, overall, it is a sheer wash of color intended to boost a natural looking appearance.

Aveda Uruku Cheek-Lip Creme retails for about $16 and is available through Aveda salons and spas, or through their online retail store.
