A review exploring the pros and cons of Kiss Me Mascara, a product made by blinc, Inc.

About Kiss Me Mascara

Kiss Me mascara is one of those unique beauty products that does everything differently than the competition yet still holds its own in sales and popularity. Sold by blinc, Inc., Kiss Me mascara is a product that has revolutionized mascara for sensitive eyes, or for those who experience running, sliding, or smearing mascara problems. Kiss Me mascara can be found in salons and spas nationwide, through the company's website directly, Sephora stores and Sephora.com, and various internet retailers worldwide. Prices average $25.00 US per tube of mascara.

How Kiss Me Mascara is Different From Other Brands

What sets Kiss Me mascara apart from the other popular mascaras is that instead of painting your lashes with a product, you are “tubing” them. As you first apply the product, you notice that it is far more liquid in nature than traditional mascara brands. A few seconds later, however, the liquid “sets” itself, creating rubber-like tubes around your lashes. Touching the lashes, you notice that the product is dry and does not come off on your fingers.

Kiss Me Mascara is water-resistant, yet it requires only warm water and mild pressure to remove the mascara from the eyelashes. No special makeup removers are required. According to the company's website, the mascara is water-resistant and still removes with water because “neither water nor friction alone is enough to remove Kiss Me mascara. It is only when the two are combined that the mascara can be removed. By simply washing your face and applying gentle pressure to the lashes, the tubes that were formed will easily slide off. Water loosens the mascara’s adhesion to the lashes, but it still takes the gentle pressure to remove the tubes. As an example of how much pressure is required, taking a shower should provide enough for Kiss Me to slide off your lashes.”

Additionally, the website reports that the mascara will not damage or cause lashes to fall out, it is not tested on animals, and after testing at an independent lab in the United States, Kiss Me mascara received a non-irritating rating.

Performance of Kiss Me Mascara

After eight hours of wear, there was no flaking, smudging or smearing, even after applying several rounds of eye drops and blotting with tissues. At the end of the day, the lashes were still perfect. However, they were merely defined. While the company reports that the mascara provides volume, there was not enough observed difference in the volume or thickness of lashes, making this mascara perform better for those who already have lashes with which they are satisfied. Some extra length was noticeable, but not enough to categorize this mascara as lengthening. The liquid like application tends to draw lashes close together. Those with thick, full lashes may experience a need to separate their lashes quickly, before the mascara dries, so they do not dry in a clump.

The Bottom Line

Kiss Me mascara is a specialty mascara that is priced comparably to other specialty mascaras. It is a wonderful alternative to traditional mascaras, especially for those who have sensitive eyes, wear contacts, or suffer from allergies or watery eyes. It is easy to use, requires no special eye makeup remover, and lasts all day, even in less than stellar conditions. It does not add significant volume or length to lashes, however, and the adjusting to the application process may take a time or two.
